Super Bowl 2012 Halftime Show: One to Remember

February 6, 2012

Some may call this year’s Super Bowl over the top but let’s be real it’s freaking Madonna! When does she not pull out all the stops? This year’s halftime show was no exception. With Super Bowl commercials boasting in the millions, this halftime show needed to impress, with appearances from super stars like Nicki Minaj, M.I.A, LMFAO and CEE LO GREEN, it totally delivered the goods.

Madonna first stepped on the field with 100+, what looked like, sexy Roman gladiators, and proceeded into one of her classic hits: Vogue.

However, it wasn’t until the field turned into a booming multicolored stereo that the party really got started. LMFAO and Madonna tore up the floor shufflin’ to the beat playing what I thought, was a great remix of both super star’s smash hits.

Up next was a semi-odd cheer routine with Nicki Minaj, M.I.A, and Madonna. Right when I saw the threesome on the stage my mind went straight to the 2007 VMA’s. (If you don’t recall, let me remind you, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Madonna’s all center stage for an awesome performance followed by a three-way make out session, AWAKS!). So, with that at the forefront of my mind, I couldn’t stop thinking “OMG THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE OUT”! I don’t know if it was Nicki’s badass rap flow, M.I.A’s middle finger, or those god awful gold pom poms that snapped me out my make-out mindset, either way I am just glad that all three ladies spared us the P.D.A!

CEE LO GREEN hit the stage next dressed as some glittery Drum Major from an awful sequel of Bring It On. Though I had my doubts, his voice is just unreal; he looked good and sounded even better!

Overall this year’s halftime show was great! Though there is no doubt in mine or anyone else’s mind that Madonna lip-sang most (if not all) of her routine, she’s 53, looks AMAZING and was flying around that stage like one of the guys from circus soleil. With all that being, said she and everyone else put on a great show. I don’t know what more we, as an audience, could have asked for… I mean the show ended with a huge gold glittery “world peace” sign for goodness sakes. Totally one of my favorite halftime shows thus far. I wonder what next year has in store. I for one, can’t wait!

I couldn’t get three things out of my mind throughout the whole halftime show…
1. How old is Madonna again?!?! (53)
2. Doesn’t anyone sing live anymore?
3. Did M.I.A really need to flip us all the bird?

What did you guys think?
