Justin Bieber Sparks Gift of Life

January 26, 2012

Just shy of being an adult, Justin Bieber has already become one of today’s most selfless and charitable celebrities playing a key role in the success in organizations such as Pencils of Promise, the Remember Alex Brown Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation and most recently the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

The Trillium Gift of Life Network is an organ, tissue, and blood donation agency based in Ontario, Canada. A single contributor can save up to 75 lives with a donation of tissue or blood. Living donation is becoming one of the main sources for organ transplantation.

Bieber’s involvement began when 20-year old Helene Campbell reached out via Twitter to share her own personal need of an organ transplant with her idol. All it took was one tweet from the international pop star for the Trillium Gift of Life Network to receive over 1,200 newly registered organ donors.

President and CEO Ronnie Gavsie praised Helene and the Biebs in a statement earlier today. “Helene has done an incredible job inspiring and motivating Ontarians to register their consent to organ and tissue donation. On an average day we would expect about 50 new online registrations. Since Helene’s campaign began last Thursday, the average has been closer to 200 per day! There are over 1,500 people in Ontario waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, on behalf of all them and Trillium Gift of Life Network, thank you Helene and thank you Justin Bieber!”

Justin Bieber has always been one of selfless nature, and with the recent launch of his own Believe Charity Drive we can expect to see more of the teen’s goodwill and dedication to giving back.
