2012 People’s Choice Awards: The Inside Scoop

January 14, 2012

This year’s People’s Choice Awards were better than ever! Ok, It’s possible I am little partial because I was in attendance, regardless this award show totally rocked! With performances from Faith Hill and Demi Lovato and appearances from Maroon 5, Betty White, Vanessa Hudgens and Edward Cullen… I mean Robert Pattinson, the stars were out at the Nokia Theater in full force this past Wednesday.

Kaley Cuoco this year’s host did a great job, with a number of wardrobe changes, funny dialogue, and one minor slip up, regarding Eloise Dunkin half way through the show. The young star defiantly held her own throughout the night. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was asked back to host next year’s show. Between the fireworks lit by Ms. Cuoco and the song and dance from Neil Patrick Harris to start off the show, everyone in the audience was ready to celebrate the night’s biggest winners.

Katy Perry took home five awards and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2’ nabbed four, they were among the night’s biggest winners. ‘How I met your mother’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’, and ‘Castle’ also took home awards in the sitcom genera. Both Adam Sandler and Ellen added light hearted and comical acceptance speeches to brighten the night. Robert Pattinson not only accepted an award for ‘Water for Elephants’, he also showed off his new cleanly shaven look for the first time. Demi Lovato looked stunning on the red carpet in a peach Marchesa gown and then later accepted her award for favorite pop artist after her flawless performance of “Give your Heart a Break” which if I may add, sounded so much better live. Faith Hill also performed, looking like a goddess, as fog surrounded her, as she serenaded the audience with a soulful country performance of “Come Home”.

Inside Scoop:
• Maroon 5 took their seats 2 second before they won for best band and left there after
• Rihanna was expected to be at the PCA’s but skipped out to attend the Clipper VS Heat game across the street at the Staples Center
• Fellow Disney star, Roshon Fegan, gave Demi Lovato a standing ovation after her performance. He also was the only star I saw taking pictures with fans
• Betty White and Robert Pattinson canoodled most of the night #couplealert
• Kathy Griffin arrived with one of her, as she calls them, “gays”, she sat with seat fillers and left mid-award show, talk about D list
• Ian Somerhalder approached Morgan Freeman, shook his hand, and gushed over what a huge fan he was
• Kaley Cuoco took off her heals and slipped on bedroom slippers to run off stage each and every time her monolog was over.

Overall this year’s awards did not disappoint. Juicy gossip, mega stars, killer fashion and amazing performances made this awards show definitely worth watching.
