Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

January 1, 2011

A first trailer for the third installment of the Transformers franchise, starring Shia LaBeouf, was posted online December 8. It sets up Dark of the Moon in 3D with a 2-1/2 minute teaser.

The footage opens with NASA’s moon landing in July 1968, including archival images of television anchor Walter Cronkite announcing the “loss of signal with Apollo 11” as they reached the far side of the moon.

What is revealed next is what the astronauts supposedly saw during those 21 minutes. With glimpses of giant robots, apparently on a secret mission, they are instructed to “take samples” of the crashed spaceship.

There’s “no sign of life,” the astronaut says of the ruin. “We’re not alone.”

Inside the crash site, one of the original thirteen Transformers, Alpha Trion, is seen. The camera travels to the animated eye as it turns into the film’s logo.
